Original Music

Writing, for me, has no replacement. It’s been my outlet through pain and joy, loss and triumph, and I’m deeply grateful to all who work with me, support me, and inspire me to continue making it.

I began writing as a young teen back in South Africa, inspired by my dad’s country and rock & roll band, and my mother’s passion for classical music. I would go on to become a full-time performer and music teacher first in my home town of Durban, and then eventually Johannesburg, where as a “pop” singer, I was fortunate to land a record deal as well as a performing contract in a major theatre. 

However, my writing always hued towards something far more personal and quiet, which has frequently expressed itself as a folksy singer-songwriter style, with the occasional country hint. And certainly my most recent writing has strong undertones of the 90’s Lilith Fair sound with more than a little British 90’s and 2000’s pop in there a la Annie Lennox or Kate Bush.
