Meditation has many forms – find the one that’s right for you!

Meditation comes in a wide variety of forms and disciplines.  Try a different technique until you find something that really resonates with you.

I first started with binaural meditations.  This where you meditate to different frequencies of sound that trigger various parts of the brain.  I found this incredibly profound, and it may be a good place for you to start as well.

Generally, meditators may prefer silence, and some may prefer to use music.  Then there are guided meditations. When I first started meditating I found it easier with a voice guiding me, reminding me when I would lose focus to get back to the breath.  Until you better your practice, I would recommend that you start with this too.  So many people have come to me saying, “I don’t know how to meditate”, or “I don’t even know what meditation is”… Well, I felt exactly the same way when I first started out.  I didn’t understand and I found myself getting frustrated with myself when I couldn’t focus on what seems to be the easiest task in the world.. Breathing.

Mindfulness meditation [insert link ] is the most popular and highly-researched form of meditation practice in the Western World.

Until you better your practice, I would recommend that you start with guided meditations but ultimately, it’s up to you.  So many people have come to me saying, I don’t know how to meditate… I don’t even know what meditation is.  I can’t sit for even a minute, I get anxious, I can’t calm the mind. Well, I felt exactly the same way when I first started out.

I had reached the darkest time in my life, it was rock bottom for me.. I felt numb and bored with life, I was the loneliest I had every been and my soul was begging for an answer, for purpose, for meaning.  The journey is different for everyone.  For me, I was searching for change and it was right in front of me the whole time.  I was just so absorbed in my pain that  didn’t notice it, or the signs.  If you wish to awaken from a darkess, you have to actively WANT to do something different, something out of the box.

I didn’t understand and I found myself getting frustrated with myself when I couldn’t focus on what seems to be the easiest task in the world.. Breathing.
